Indoor Aromas

Or, How to Make Your Home as Clean & Fresh
as Nature’s Outdoor Garden

Everyone who knew Lucie knew how amazing she was at cleaning around the home, leaving anyone’s house or apartment not only spic-and-span and smelling of the sweet aroma of lavender, but doing so using nature-friendly, chemical-free cleaning solutions.

Here’s how she did it:

  • Antibacterial Solution: Put 1 cup of water, plus 25-30 drops of lavender oil, in a spray bottle. Spray door knobs, switch plates, etc. (can also be used on leather furniture). Wipe furniture with a damp cloth afterwards. Spray inside your pillow cases, too!
  • Cleaning Bathrooms: Fill a bucket with HOT water. Wet a microfiber cloth and wring it out until it’s almost dry. Put 4 to 6 drops of tea tree oil on the cloth, and wipe down tiles and bathtub. For the toilet seat and top of the bowl, shake a drop or two of tea tree oil directly on and wipe with toilet paper or paper towels to finish.
  • Disinfectant (for floors, walls etc.): Fill a spray bottle with 2 cups of water, ¼ teaspoon of lavender oil, and ¼ teaspoon of tea tree oil. Use this along with a bucket of HOT water and a microfiber cloth. Wet the microfiber cloth and wring out. Spray floor, etc. and wipe down with cloth. Use strokes in one direction and in line with the direction the floor is laid, if your floor is wood.

Note: Lucie also mentioned a commercial cleaner she’d learned of called Pink Solution (available straight from the website, or at Costco and other stores). There are two versions available: a mild one for windows, etc., plus a stronger version for cleaning ovens. Check out some reviews!

Many thanks to Melissa Clark for having had the foresight
to record for posterity these "aromatic solutions" of Lucie’s!
